Helen Boyd: Photographer, Wanderess & Abstract Painter

I live and work in the English Lake District with my husband and cocker spaniel, Honey.

Desk-bound on weekdays I love to get outdoors and walk in the Lakes on the weekends and indulge my passions which are Photography, Poetry, Reading, Painting & Art. Always very observant and naturally curious from a young age, I love to photograph my natural environment. I especially love emotive landscapes, seascapes and simpler minimalist shots.

I have been making photographs for many years but have taken my photography more seriously in the last eight years. I am also draw as an abstract painter, to the more creative areas of photography. I am currently shooting lots of 'out of focus' images and ICM Intentional camera movement.

I love shooting with my Fujifilm X-T1 mirrorless digital camera, the only digital camera I have kept.

I have a Hasselblad 500 c/m,  a Leica M2 and a Nikon FM2n and am enjoying really shooting with film.

Travel is on-going in 2017, the Rhins of Galloway, Scotland, the beautiful Northumberland coast and then after Labor Day a trip to Seattle, USA.

My best accolade to date was winning the Northern Counties Photographic Federation NCPF – 2012 for my B&W image of the Borrowdale fells.
